Arna has resurrected Burruk, the Knight and first of the Nine, and now they travel together in search of his old friend Yuron, the Shifter, in order to bolster their ranks and further loosen the Empress’s tethers to the physical world.
But the wood they enter is a labyrinth, denying them at every turn, and what’s more there seems to be more than one force working to make sure they fail in their quest.
Can Arna and Burruk follow their Bloodline to renew Yuron and the bush? Or will they wander the Woods until their shades are stripped from their bodies.

Arna has already returned two of the Nine to the plane of the living, and now pursues the aid of Ishint and her cadre of huntresses.
But the Dread Peaks present the most difficult challenges yet for Arna. Tests of physical strength, of mental cunning, of loyalty between companions and family, and always tests of blood and spirit in the world beyond the Veil.
Can Arna and Burruk continue to follow her Bloodline and overcome the dark heart at the centre of the mountains? Or will her relationship with Burruk be tested beyond its limit?

Arna and Burruk continue their journey, this time in search of Hilemara, the Cartographer.
But the Clashing Isles have been seculaded from the mainland for decades, and the Chelonae-kin would rather keep it that way. What’s more, Hilemara is reported to reside at the bottom of the ocean.
